Artist statement
Haptic perception is how we relate to the world. A fundamental aspect of human experiences; our body-rhythms synchronise through touch.
Art/craft ship wires a feedback loop of motor impulses and sensory awareness that is none-verbal, and in a non linear time. The material quite literarily bridges the gap between thought and emotion and manifests as lived forms.
In my recent work i explore transversality of the haptic with time, senses, geographical borders, cultural heritage and the mental state.
Each object is a reminder to make space for our emotions, be curious about them, seek the wisdom in them, treat them with kindness and remember that they are temporary. My work uses this potential to construct narratives on the precipice of the familiar and strange; to explore emotions while staying in touch with.
